Christmas 2015 Card Post #2

Hello, today I am sharing another Christmas Card that I made.  It also uses a Lili of the Valley rubber stamp from the Jack, Patch & Puss line.

This one was a little bit different and special as it was to say Thank You to our Veterinarian. This past year had been a long and difficult year for our dog, Mandy, who was 15 years old.  She was slightly blind, deaf and possibly suffered a stroke, and on December 2nd, I knew it was finally time to say goodbye to her.  Our veterinary office was so helpful and kind during this time.  I had previously made two other appointments to say goodbye and then backed out as she seemed to be better on some days than others, but this last time I knew there was no going back, it was time to say goodbye.

I used most of the same supplies as the last card post, so I will not repost here.  Only the paper is different, which I am not sure, but think it was from Simple Stories.  Below I will add pictures of my dog Mandy.

Thanks for stopping by.  Please leave a comment if you’d like.

Hello, today I am sharing one of the Christmas Cards that I made for 2015 for family/friends.

This card was made with a Lili of the Valley rubber stamp, that unfortunately is no longer available. The stamp I believe was from the series called Jack, Patch & Puss.  They are so cute, I’m not sure why they stopped carrying them.  This one is just Jack (the bunny) and Puss (the kitty).  A list of craft items used to create this card are listed below.

Watercoloring with Distress Inks…Part 2

Hello again, here I have part two of my first attempt at watercoloring with Distress Inks.  It took me longer than a couple of days to get around to finish coloring the image and then once I did, I didn’t really like how it turned out.  I was just going to trash it and then start again, but this is a learning experience, so here is the picture of how it turned out.  I’m definitely going to try this again, but I’m going to watch a few more videos first!

Things I learned from trying this for the first time:

Always use your reds last, when they bleed, they are had to fix. (This is true for Copic Markes too, so I should have know better!)

Less is better, I feel like I over colored it, should have left more white areas or highlights.

Make sure each area is dry before going onto the next, I had a lot of colors bleeding into each other.

Keep a paper towel or napkin handy to blot excess water.

Today I have a project in process to share with you.  I have decided to try my hand at water coloring the background of my stamped card image with distress inks. I was inspired to try this from watching this video from Kristina Werner.  This technique uses Fineline Masking Fluid over your stamped image.  Once the masking fluid has dried completely you can safely watercolor the background without affecting the stamped image that will be colored later.  I think the sky turned out OK, not sure about the grass, but still learning at this point.  The image is from Lili Of The Valley and is called Close Your Eyes.  I love their images, they are so sweet.  I will post the finished image hopefully in a day or so.  Thanks for visiting.

Hi Everyone!

Happy Weekend! Happy 1st Day of September!  Today I have a card made with one of the Lili Of The Valley Stamps that I received in the mail a few weeks ago. I just LOVE these stamps, they are so cute!

The image I used is called “From All Of Us” and you can get it here.  I stamped the image with a Memento Ink Pad (Tuxedo Black) on a piece of Copic X-press It Blending Card Stock that I purchased from Simon Says Stamp and then colored it with Copic Markers.  This is also the first time I have posted a card with an image colored on this paper, and I’m not sure if it shows in the pictures or not, but the colors really blend well.

I cut the easel card base and top out of some craft card stock using my Silhouette Cutting Machine.  The Decorative paper is from Simple Stories “Fabulous” 6 x6 paper pad.  This card measures about 5.25 x 5.25 finished so, the 6×6 paper pads work great for this type of card.

Hey Crafters!  At the end of July I ordered my first ever Lili Of The Valley stamps, and because they are located in the UK it could be up to 21 days before I received them.  Boy was I happy and excited when they arrived in just over a week!

I have been drooling over all of their cute stamps for at least a year now and once I saw their new Christmas Stamps, I took the plunge!  I can’t wait to start my Christmas Cards now!  I also purchased some general every day stamps as well.  Hopefully I will have some cute cards to post int he next few weeks!
