Chili Cook Off Thank You Card

This is a “Thank You” card I made a couple of years ago but never posted.  I was looking through my old pictures recently and though I would share it now.

In our community, one of the things they do to kick off the United Way Giving Campaign is a Chili Cook Off.  The office where I work participated and and I made this card for the wife of one of my coworkers who works in the local catholic school kitchen, as she helped us make the chili.  (The rules for the cook off is that the chili has to be cooked in a commercial kitchen – and she pretty much did all the work as it was way faster – we just helped by handing her the ingredients.) We bought her a gift card to the salon she likes for helping us so much.  We didn’t win the cook off but it was really fun attending the event. I have also included a picture of our booth for fun.  The theme that year was “Las Vegas”, and as we are a construction company, we went with Casino’s that have all been demolished!

The image on the front of the card is a Mo’s Digital Pencil Stamp called “What’s Cooking“, I love this image as she reminds me of a friends daughter! I colored her with Copic Markers and the background paper is from my paper stash and it is pretty old, but I believe it was from “My Minds Eye“.  I also used the same paper to create the pocket on the inside of the card.

Thanks for looking!

Hi Everyone, today I am participating in Challenge #58 over at the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog.

Saturated Canary Elf Molly_card_12-8-13

The digital image I used is called Molly, isn’t she cute?

I printed her out on some Copic Xpress It Blending Card stock and colored her with Copic Markers.   The designer paper is from the My Mind’s Eye – “Merry Little Christmas” 6×6 paper pad that I purchased from Michael’s.  I love these 6×6 paper pads, they are perfect for card making as the patterns are scaled down from the 12×12 scrapbooking versions.

The card base and layering paper is a piece of Black Card stock from my local copy shop. It’s a heavier weight maybe 110 lb card stock which makes for a nice sturdy card base.  I added some decorative elements by using the Leaf-Filled Flourish Die-namics from Simon Says Stamp and added some paper roses from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The Copic Maker colors I used are:
Skin & Parchment Roll – E50, 51 & 53, R20 on her lips and cheeks
Hair – E 42, 43 & 44
Clothes – R81, 83 & 85, YG61, 63 & 67
Background – BG10, 11 & 15, W00, 1, & 3

Garden Variety Tuesday Challenge – Girly Girl

Hey Card Crafters, today I’m participating in The Greeting Farm’s “Garden Variety Tuesday” challenge.  The theme is Girly Girl, so I thought that their image “Dress Ebony” would fit that theme perfectly!  I used some really pretty papers from the “A Beautiful Life” 6×6 Designer Paper Pad from My Minds Eye on a black card stock base.  I chose coordinating Copic Marker colors to go with the designer papers, but I forgot to write them down when I was coloring, so I don’t have a list of colors to share. 😦

I made this card for a co-workers birthday this month, and I’m so glad that I remembered to take a picture because I think that it goes with the theme pretty well.

By the way, if anyone has any hints on how to take better pictures of the cards that we make, I would love to hear it, I’m having just a terrible time, they are always blurry it seems.  This one was taken with an iPad, and you can’t change the resolution (at least that I have found), and it’s only set to 72 dpi, which is ok for the web I guess, but not so great for actually printing out photos.  Maybe it is just me. 🙂 Oh well, hope you like the card!

This is an easel card that I made for my Sister for her birthday.  This cute My Favorite Things – Pure Innocence stamp, Being Cute is What I Do, reminder me of her.

The DP is from My Minds Eye Stella & Rose collection.  I colored her with Copic Markers and I also paper pieced her outfit from the DP.  I used Distress Ink in Peeled Paint on white card stock to finish the inside of the card and added some rhinestones on the inside as well to hold it in place when it is opened.

This is a 5.25×5.25 card I made for my co-worker who just loves bears, quilts and cross stitching, so all of the elements ended up working well together.  The stamp is Fred Bear and the Butterfly from My Favorite Things. I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic Markers which I’m still learning how to use.  The Designer Paper is from the 6×6 Stella and Rose paper pack by My Minds Eye. On the buttons I used Cappuccino Twine from The Twinery that I also got from MFTs.
